Saba is now offering enriched air so that divers have the option of diving
even safer. Enriched Air, or
more commonly referred to “nitrox” diving, is not new to the
diving world. Teaching
organizations and manufacturers of nitrox equipment have been prominent in
the dive industry for over 10 years.
However, it’s just in the past few years that nitrox has been
accepted by the mainstream of divers, including PADI as a safer way to
dive. Many
myths have now been dispelled. You
do not need special or new equipment to dive nitrox as a recreational
diver (40% or less oxygen level). Your
nitrox certification can be achieved without disrupting your holiday:
two easy afternoons between diving and dinner and you can be on
your way to diving nitrox.
What
is nitrox? In simple terms,
nitrox is a higher oxygen content breathing gas.
Higher oxygen and lower nitrogen levels equate to extended bottom
time, greatly increased safety margins and less fatigue.
